Westminster Orthodox Presbyterian Church
What We Believe

Our Church is not new. We trace
our historic roots to the sixteenth-century doctrinal statement, the Westminster
Confession of Faith, together with its Larger and Shorter Catechisms. These
doctrinal statements were adopted by our denomination in 1936, when it was
established. In a age in which people are called on to believe as little as
possible, the thirty-three chapters of the Confession stand as one of the most
comprehensive summaries of the teaching of Scripture in the history of
Christianity.

We are Grounded in Scripture
The twentieth century
witnessed the progressive rejection of traditional values. The Bible, has not
been spared from this new thinking. The Orthodox Presbyterian Church is
committed to defending and maintaining the truths of God's Word and the Church
itself is the embodiment of this committment to Scripture.
The only
infallible rule of faith and practice in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church is the
Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. We believe that the Bible alone (Sola
Scriptura) gives us correct knowledge of who God is and how we may please
Him.
